Self-realization, the ultimate goal of both Ayurveda and Yoga, is also the highest form of self-healing.
The teachings and practices of Yoga and Ayurveda can help us to eliminate imbalances of body and mind before these imbalances manifest as illness. Key points are:

- Understanding our basic physical constitution in terms of the doshas (qualities) of Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, and our mental constitution in terms of the 3 gunas: Sattwa, Rajas, and Tamas

- How the mind works and how to improve the functioning of the mind
- The importance of our mental diet and the role of thoughts and feelings
- Proper nutrition: how our diet influences the quality of our consciousness
- Using Mantras, affirmations, and prayer to heal the mind
- The eight-fold path of Ashtanga yoga as a spiritual tool for harmonizing the mind
