Why go to India with Ananda?
There are two outstanding reasons: spiritually, you will have a stronger, more meaningful experience; and, on the practical side, it is infinitely more convenient.
On every voyage to India, Ananda brings many of its main teachers and long-time members from around the world. Pilgrimage is truly a regular part of our lives, and some people go every year. This year’s guides include the spiritual directors Anand and Kirtani, Arjuna and Shivani, Jayadev and Sahaja, yoga instructor, Juergen, as well as translators that make it possible for the pilgrims to understand everything that is being said.
Ananda has a long and very intimate relationship with the family and friends of Yogananda and the other masters, and also with the directors of ashrams and temples throughout India. We receive permission to enter and meditate in very special places, like the private bedroom of Anandamoyi Ma in Benares, behind the golden Buddha at Sarnath, Sivananda’s meditation room in Rishikesh. Meditating and chanting with advanced devotees in these special places gives Ananda pilgrimages the spiritual power for which we are well know.
“Going on pilgrimage with Ananda transformed my whole attitude towards the Masters. Now I feel that I belong to their family.” — Maria Grazia, Roma
Make the most of your precious time in India
As in all foreign countries, but especially in India, it is possible to loose much time just getting from one place to another and even in finding the temple or ashram or saint once you manage to arrive. Beyond questions of comfort and convenience, hygiene and good food are important. Over the past 10 years Ananda has carefully chosen the hotels and worked with them on menus suitable to Westerners; we chose the most direct trains and hire good private buses; we engage the best local guides and even have experience with local drivers and merchants. This doesn’t mean that there is no adventure — every day is an adventure and pilgrims have ample time to explore on their own.
